Stay: $38

The Generator Hostel ($38/night). This is more like a luxury hotel!

-Chill at the quiet and desirable Faena Beach accross the street from the Generator Hostel (the hostel gives out free beach towels).

Faena beach is a peaceful location to watch the sun rise or set.

-Rent one of the hostel’s free bikes and ride all the way down Collins Ave. to South Beach. Or, walk (it’ll take about 2 hours). There is also a bus you can take which costs a quarter to ride up and down Collins Ave.

-Stop at Espanola Way and photograph the stunning historic Cuban Architecture (and maybe grab some Cuban food, oysters or Paella).

-Sunbathe, collect sea shells or swim in the warm azure waters of the iconic South Beach! Maybe see a modeling shoot, too.

-Make your way back to the Generator Hostel by walking up Ocean Avenue, or choose the quieter Boardwalk that runs parallel to the beach. Be sure to stop at Lumis Park and maybe even enjoy the swing set there 🙂

Eat: $15-30

-Shepherd’s coffee, with two locations on Collins Ave (one near the Generator Hostel and one near South Beach) has happy hour all day.

Get two-for-one mimosas ($7), which you can take to-go (where else?!) or stay a while and people watch the SoBe elites, and maybe even share the outdoor patio with their dining dogs 🙂

Shepherd’s also has excellent gluten free food, dessert and pastry options. I noshed on a delicious, healthy and refreshing citrus chicken salad for under $15.

-Eat a full meal at one of the neon hotels along Collins Ave just north of South Beach. They have the menus posted outside and there is lots of variety in the $15+ range.

-There is a bustling yet comfortable Starbucks Coffee just a few blocks south from the Generator Hostel. Great way to get decent food at a decent price ($10+)

Arrive: $16

-Take an Uber from Miami International Airport to South Beach for $16-20. It is a 15-25 minute ride to the beach from the airport, and the Ubers run at all hours.
